Goods Catalog – WordPress plugin that creates catalog of products

Hello there! Let me introduce my first WordPress Plugin: Goods Catalog. The plugin creates simple catalog of products, working similar to “Windows Explorer”: there are parent categories at the front page, sub-categories and products on the page of category. You can download it from WordPress Plugin repository, or just find at WP-Admin -> Plugins -> Search “Goods Catalog”.

Front-end

After installation and adding some parent categories of products, the main page of the catalog will be available at “www. your-site .com/catalog“.

The main page looks like that:

For every category in the list here there are the following info:

• title of category
• picture (you can add it using Taxonomy Images Plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/taxonomy-images/), or default image if not found
• description

By clicking on the title or on the picture of category, you get the page of this category. It looks like that:

There are:

• breadcrumbs
• the title and desctiption
• the list of child categories for the current category
• the list of products in the current category (products form child categories are excluded)
• pagination, if there are a lot of products

For every product here you can see:

• title
• thumbnail, or default image if not found
• short desctiption
• SKU
• price

The page of product:

In the page of single product are:

• breadcrumbs
• the title and short desctiption
• price
• SKU
• list of categories and tags
• full description where you can add pictures and videos

You can manage all the products, categories and tags via WP-Admin.

Back-end

The plugin creates additional menu item in the Console:

You can add products and manage them the same way as posts and pages in your blog.

If you want to add images for the categories, use the plugin Taxonomy Images. After installing that plugin, please click “Settings -> Taxonomy Images” and choose product category there. Then, go to Goods -> Categories, click on “+” and add image for the category:

If you haven’t added picture for the category, Goods Catalog plugin will use the default one.

Settings

Currently there are the following settings page of the plugin:

You can set up:

• number of products per page
• width of containers
• turn on the sidebar

Sidebar

The page with sidebar looks like that:

There are two default widget for the catalog, but you can use any of the widgets in the Goods Catalog Sidebar:
